Visa Requirements

The countries listed require visas for international travel. This list applies solely to U.S. citizens traveling on tourism and business (does not apply to persons planning to emigrate to foreign countries).

Visas should be obtained before proceeding abroad (a few countries do provide a visa upon arrival). The addresses of foreign consular offices in the United States may be obtained by consulting the Congressional Directory (available in most libraries) or city telephone directories. Inquire for specific requirements well in advance of your departure date at the Embassy in Washington, D.C. or your local Consulate of the country to be visited.

If you are traveling as part of a tour group, check with your tour operator. Some countries require that passports be valid for six months or longer than your visit; all passports must be signed. Some Arab countries may not admit you if your passport indicates travel to Israel. Consult the nearest U.S. passport agency for guidelines if this applies to you.
